Small Luxury Hotels Expands Portfolio with New Properties

Small Luxury Hotels of the World expanded its collection last month with three distinctive properties that highlight local character, refined design and personalized service.

On the northeast coast of Martinique, French Coco opened as the island’s first SLH property. This newly built, all-suite hotel features 17 suites decorated with natural materials and a color palette inspired by the surrounding landscape. Select accommodations, such as the Suite Creole and Suite Caribes, include private pools and outdoor seating areas for a secluded stay. The hotel’s restaurant focuses on French-Caribbean cuisine prepared with ingredients grown on site, reinforcing a farm-to-table approach that complements the coastal setting.

In Laos, The President by Akaryn is scheduled to open in October. Originally gifted to the city by the Chinese government, the boutique property sits between the Parliament House and the Presidential Palace and reflects French Neoclassical influences in its architecture. The hotel offers 32 guestrooms and suites with high ceilings and marble floors, creating a calm, elegant atmosphere. Beyond the private rooms, guests can enjoy meticulously maintained English-style gardens, an Ayurah Wellness spa and four dining outlets that provide a variety of culinary experiences.

In Madrid, Hotel Único combines historic grandeur with contemporary gastronomy. Housed in a converted 19th-century palace, the hotel features 44 Art Deco guestrooms and suites with marble mosaics and high ceilings that evoke classic luxury. Hotel Único has also established itself as a culinary destination: its restaurant, led by chef Ramón Freixa, holds two Michelin stars and delivers a refined dining experience that complements the property’s elegant atmosphere.
