The Caribbean island of Bonaire, part of the Leeward Antilles and well known for its world-class diving and snorkeling, will see increased air service this winter from both Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. To give travelers more options for escaping colder weather, Delta will expand its non-stop service between Atlanta (ATL) and Bonaire (BON) from one weekly flight to three, while United will add additional flights from Newark (EWR) and Houston (IAH).
“The addition of these Delta and United non-stop flights to Bonaire during the peak season demonstrates the airlines’ confidence in Bonaire’s tourism product,” said Malinda Hassell, marketing manager for the Tourism Corporation Bonaire. “These extra flights on U.S. carriers will give visitors more convenient connections and greater flexibility when planning their trips.”
Delta plans to begin the two additional direct flights on Dec. 19. United’s Newark non-stop service resumes on Sept. 26, and its Houston routes will begin on Nov. 20.
The increased frequency aims to support Bonaire’s tourism industry during its busy season by making travel more accessible for U.S. visitors. Greater seat capacity and more schedule choices can benefit both leisure travelers seeking short getaways and those planning longer stays centered on diving, snorkeling, and eco-tourism. Early bookings are recommended as additional flights can fill quickly once schedules are announced and holiday travel ramps up.
By expanding non-stop options from major U.S. gateways, the island improves its connectivity and strengthens its appeal as a straightforward, convenient Caribbean destination. Travelers should check airline schedules and baggage policies when booking, and consider coordinating flights with local accommodations and dive operators to ensure a smooth arrival and enjoyable stay on the island.
