Arrival/Check-In: The 2014 GT Tested Awards gala was held in sunny Los Angeles, and I stayed at the elegant Montage Beverly Hills for the event. I arrived on Sunday afternoon and was warmly greeted by several members of the hotel staff as I stepped out of a taxi. The lobby was decorated for the holidays, and while waiting to check in I took a moment to admire an elaborate gingerbread house. A staff member escorted me to my room, where I quickly settled into the refined surroundings.
Guest Quarters: My room at the Montage was among the best I’ve experienced, offering generous space for both work and relaxation. The marble bathroom included a separate glass shower and bathtub, plus a detailed double-sink vanity. A large walk-in closet provided plenty of hanging space and room to store luggage out of sight. The bed felt cloud-like, complemented by monogrammed pillows, and a bedside panel controlled the window curtains. Opposite the bed, an ornate desk doubled as the TV cabinet, and a comfortable L-shaped couch provided a cozy seating area. The minibar was tastefully accented by a large, double-stemmed orchid.
Services/Amenities: Montage Beverly Hills provides the full suite of amenities expected at a luxury Beverly Hills property. Dining options include a lively lobby-level bar with an excellent cocktail selection, a rooftop grill, and Scarpetta, an Italian restaurant by chef Scott Conant. The hotel also offers a full-service hair salon, 24-hour concierge, laundry and dry cleaning, a fitness facility, and round-the-clock room service. For guests seeking relaxation, Spa Montage delivers a comprehensive menu of treatments.
One standout amenity was the courtesy car service—a Rolls-Royce Ghost—perfect for getting around Beverly Hills. The drivers were exceptionally friendly; on Monday morning my driver Sean and I discovered we grew up near each other in Philadelphia and enjoyed a long conversation about football, which made the ride all the more pleasant.
The Experience: My stay at Montage Beverly Hills was exceptional. The comfortable room, high-quality amenities, thoughtful design, and genuinely welcoming staff combined to create a memorable visit. I would gladly return and recommend the hotel to anyone traveling to Los Angeles.
