Affinia Manhattan Reopens After Full Renovation With Modern Upgrades

Affinia Manhattan, situated next to Madison Square Garden and Pennsylvania Station in New York City, has completed the final phase of a comprehensive two-year renovation that totaled $33 million. The project refreshed the property from top to bottom, creating a modern, comfortable retreat for leisure and business travelers alike.

“The fully renovated Affinia Manhattan was designed to create an urban retreat that reflects the hotel’s playground, which is New York City,” said Joe Kelly, general manager of Affinia Manhattan. “Our guests have the best of both worlds — the vibrancy of the Big Apple and the comfort-focused details they’ve come to expect from the Affinia brand.”

The redesign emphasizes a refined, contemporary aesthetic. Public and event spaces were updated with a neutral base palette enlivened by purposeful splashes of green, orange and red. A signature chandelier in the lobby—an artful installation inspired by the topography of New York City—serves as a focal point and helps define three distinct zones: an expansive front desk and reception area, a comfortable common lounge, and a quieter relaxation section designed for guests to unwind.

Guestroom capacity was increased during the renovation, bringing the total to 618 rooms. The expanded inventory includes 84 one- and two-bedroom suites, some of which feature full kitchens and private terraces to better accommodate extended stays and travelers seeking residential-style amenities. Guestroom interiors follow a crisp white and gray color scheme with green and orange accents that echo the public space palette, delivering a consistent, cohesive experience throughout the hotel.

Practical amenities were upgraded as well. The property now includes an 1,100-square-foot fitness center equipped for a variety of workouts, plus an on-site, self-service laundry for added convenience. These improvements support both short visits and longer stays, appealing to business travelers, families, and guests who prefer to maintain routines while on the road.

Located in a prime Midtown Manhattan neighborhood, Affinia Manhattan benefits from immediate access to major transit hubs and attractions, which makes it an appealing base for exploring the city or attending events at Madison Square Garden. The renovation focuses on balancing the energy of the surrounding urban environment with thoughtful hospitality touches—comfortable furnishings, practical in-room features, and communal areas designed to encourage relaxation and socializing.

The updated event and meeting spaces are designed to accommodate a range of group sizes and functions, with flexible layouts and neutral finishes that are easy to customize for corporate meetings, social gatherings or small conferences. Thoughtful lighting, clear circulation paths, and the incorporation of natural and accent colors create a welcoming backdrop for events without overwhelming individual branding or décor needs.

Overall, the completed renovation positions Affinia Manhattan as a refreshed Midtown option that combines location, modern design and practical amenities. The hotel’s updated look and expanded room offerings aim to meet the expectations of today’s travelers: a neighborhood feel, streamlined comfort, and the convenience of being steps away from New York City’s major transit and entertainment destinations.
