Sea-Themed Princess Festival for Kids in the Czech Republic

Located in the Bohemian village of Mcely, less than an hour from Prague in the Czech Republic, the enchanting Chateau Mcely Spa Hotel & Forest Retreat is a serene escape steeped in history and natural beauty. The property features 23 individually named rooms, each thoughtfully designed with attention to detail, luxurious linens and rich accents. The hotel’s two floors are presented as distinct themes—the Floor of the World and the Floor of Time—creating a cohesive yet varied atmosphere throughout the chateau.

Beyond the guest rooms, Chateau Mcely offers a range of inviting spaces and experiences. Guests can explore the 17th-century wine cellar known as The Alchemists Club, relax in a sprawling English park, or unwind in the studio library complete with a tower observatory. The separate Bouquet Spa focuses on traditional herbal aromatherapy treatments that use locally gathered herbs from the nearby St. George Forest.

Spa highlights include signature rituals such as the Nine Flowers, a nine-step treatment performed in the intimate Honey Pavilion by the lake, and Rose is a Rose is a Rose, which features a rosehip honey body peeling followed by a soothing, moisturizing rose serum. These treatments emphasize natural ingredients and a calm, restorative experience in a woodland setting.

Chateau Mcely is also family-friendly and hosts seasonal events aimed at children. From Sept. 9–11 the chateau holds its annual Princess Festival, a weekend designed for families with children aged three and older. The festival package typically includes two nights in a room of your choice, daily breakfast buffet, Saturday buffet lunch and a Sunday barbecue. Activities start on Friday evening and include a bedtime reading of The Peacock Prince in the chateau’s Golden Hall, presented by the resident nanny.

The weekend program offers a variety of children’s activities in the English park and around the estate. Highlights often include a formal festival opening, the Princess Academy workshop “Fun with Etiquette for Princesses and Princes,” a Mermaid Cake cutting, fairytale theater in the park, and the Le Petite Suzette Fashion Show featuring playful princess costumes. Additional activities commonly offered are a princess jewelry workshop, pirate treasure hunt, horse and pony rides and several surprise events designed to delight young guests.

Parents are catered to as well, with educational and thoughtful programming during the festival. Previous speaker sessions have included a seminar titled “How to Raise a Girl, How to Raise a Boy” led by psychotherapist and lecturer Milan Studnička, along with a presentation by Tomáš Rychnovský, Ph.D. These talks aim to provide practical parenting guidance alongside the weekend’s family-focused entertainment.

Chateau Mcely blends historic charm, wellness offerings and family-oriented events in a peaceful countryside setting. Whether visiting for a spa weekend, a romantic getaway or a family festival, guests can expect attentive service, refined interiors and a variety of activities that highlight the property’s natural surroundings and cultural heritage.
