United Airlines Adds Boeing 787 Dreamliners to Transatlantic Routes

United Airlines announced last month that it will deploy its new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners on six transatlantic routes, all operating from its Newark (EWR) hub. Service with these aircraft is scheduled to begin in March 2019.

The 787-10 will serve nonstop routes from Newark Liberty International Airport to Frankfurt (FRA), Germany; Tel Aviv (TLV), Israel; Barcelona (BCN), Spain; Brussels (BRU), Belgium; Dublin (DUB), Ireland; and Paris (CDG), France.

United was the first North American carrier to receive the 787-10. The cabin configuration on these aircraft includes 44 United Polaris business-class seats, 21 United Premium Plus seats, 54 Economy Plus seats and 199 standard Economy seats. Tickets for these flights went on sale on December 3, 2018, for travel beginning March 30, 2019.

“United is proud to offer more seats between New York and Europe than any other carrier, and our Boeing 787-10 aircraft based in New York/Newark will enable us to connect even more New York City customers to Europe and beyond,” said Patrick Quayle, United’s vice president, in a statement.

Quayle added, “We are thrilled to announce six international cities that will be served with this aircraft and we look forward to offering our customers all of the comforts and services of our most advanced aircraft.”

The 787-10 features several cabin enhancements, including updated lighting schemes, an improved seatback entertainment system and other passenger comfort upgrades designed to enhance the long-haul travel experience.
