Turkish Airlines has introduced new cabin crew uniforms that will debut after the opening of İstanbul New Airport. Drawing on classic Turkish design and cultural motifs, the new attire incorporates patterns inspired by traditional Turkish glassware, ceramics and other arts. The palette is influenced by the waters of the Bosphorus, giving the collection a distinctively İstanbul look.
Designed in collaboration with Ettore Bilotta, the uniforms mark a refreshed brand identity for the national carrier. The collection now includes coordinated hats, gloves, dresses, bags and accessories. In addition to cabin crew outfits, updated uniforms for cockpit staff, flying chefs and ground services create a cohesive and consistent brand experience across all employee roles.
“Turkish Airlines is always thrilled to collaborate with such creative and distinctive talents which blend elegant and practical design. While maintaining traditional elements of Turkish design and culture, our new uniforms are professional and stay true to a culture of hospitality, just like our airline,” said M. İlker Aycı, chairman of the board and the executive committee, Turkish Airlines.
Ettore Bilotta explained his inspiration: “When I started to design for Turkish Airlines, the first thing that inspired me was İstanbul. This city has been a melting pot for art and civilization for centuries and has a rare richness as a common heritage of many cultures. I wanted to bring elements from traditional calligraphy and mosaics together with new interpretations of Turkish motifs, which emphasize modern lines, into foulards and ties to reflect a contrast and duality.”
The refreshed uniforms aim to balance elegance and functionality while celebrating Turkey’s visual heritage. By integrating motifs from calligraphy, mosaic art and ceramic decoration into modern cuts and accessories, the airline seeks to present a contemporary image that still honors regional craftsmanship. The result is a uniform family that feels both refined and practical, suitable for long-haul international service and the varied roles within the airline.
Beyond aesthetics, the redesign emphasizes consistency across touchpoints—ensuring passengers encounter a unified visual identity whether interacting with cabin crew, pilots, culinary staff, or ground personnel. Accessories such as scarves and ties carry the thematic patterns, while bags and outerwear are adapted for everyday operational needs.
With the move to İstanbul New Airport, the timing of the uniform rollout signals a broader moment of renewal for the airline. The combination of cultural references and contemporary tailoring positions the uniforms as a bridge between tradition and modernity, reflecting both Turkey’s artistic legacy and the airline’s global ambitions.
