Franco-American Museum Reopens: New Exhibits and Visitor Info

On June 24, the Franco-American Museum Château de Blérancourt reopens with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, guided garden tours and remarks from French officials. The day’s program includes dinner in the Palais gardens and an evening jazz concert in Compiègne after tours of the newly restored rooms at Le Palais de Compiègne. Bus service between Paris and Blérancourt will be available on June 24, and boutique carrier La Compagnie will operate all-business-class flights between Newark (EWR) and Paris (CDG); seats are limited, so early booking is advised.

The museum will unveil a new entrance designed by architect Yves Lion. Inside, visitors will find rare historic documents, works by generations of French and American artists, and objects that commemorate the longstanding ties between France and the United States. The collection features paintings by Childe Hassam, John Singer Sargent, Romaine Brooks, Fernand Léger and Alexander Calder. The World War I galleries include a Model T Ford American Field Service ambulance, illustrating the Franco-American cooperation during the conflict.

Located along the historic Paris–Brussels route, the museum was created after World War I by Ann Morgan, daughter of J.P. Morgan. The site comprises two pavilions that house the library and Ann Morgan’s former residence, set within carefully maintained gardens. Recent renovations introduced a new exhibition hall outfitted with high-tech multimedia installations conceived by museographer Adrien Gardère, enhancing the visitor experience with contemporary interpretive tools. Restoration work also continues on L’Orangerie, the museum’s educational annex, which will expand learning and outreach capabilities once completed.

With its combination of architectural renewal, archival treasures and outdoor spaces, the Château de Blérancourt offers a refreshed cultural destination that highlights artistic exchange and historical ties between France and the United States. The reopening events on June 24 provide an opportunity to explore the renewed facilities, enjoy cultural programming and participate in a celebration of transatlantic friendship.
