This winter marks a major milestone for Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski in St. Moritz as the hotel celebrates its 20th anniversary. To mark two decades, the hotel is inviting both international visitors and local residents to discover its newly renovated lobby and a contemporary redesign of the lobby bar.
Steeped in tradition, Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski offers guests a chance to reflect on a rich local history. The hotel is situated in St. Moritz Bad, the birthplace of St. Moritz tourism and the site of the mineral healing spring that made the area famous. In the 19th century the Mauritius spring—known for its carbonation and iron content—helped establish Switzerland’s first spa tourism destination. Guests at the hotel can still sample the spring water from a fountain in the spa area. It has been 20 years since Kempinski Hotels, Europe’s oldest hotel group, reopened the iconic Grand Hotel des Bains in December 2002 after a 14-month restoration.

This five-star property has built an international reputation by blending Swiss heritage and culture with contemporary luxury and a lively, sporty spirit. Located at the foot of the Signalbahn and the legendary Hahnensee piste, the hotel provides direct ski-in/ski-out access to the Corviglia and Corvatsch ski areas. Cross-country ski tracks and hiking trails through the hotel park lead directly into the lakes and forests of the Engadine valley.
Recently the Grand Hotel des Bains completed an intensive two-month renovation of its lobby and adjacent bar. The works also refreshed the buffet area of the award-winning main restaurant Les Saisons, created a new arrival and reception area, and added luxury retail spaces.

Local architect and interior designer Nikolas Travaseros led the project, delivering a transformation that adds elegance and refined luxury to the St. Moritz landmark. The redesign favours clean lines, bright, open spaces and contemporary comfort. The new Kempinski Bar & Lobby has quickly become one of St. Moritz’s prime spots for cocktails and relaxation—an inviting place for guests and locals to unwind after outdoor activities, enjoy a refreshing drink, or indulge in Kempinski’s signature high tea with delicate Swiss pâtisserie.
The hotel will continue its upgrading program during the upcoming off-season with an extensive renovation of guest rooms.
