New Indianapolis Boutique Hotel Debuts with Luxe Design and Flair

New to Indianapolis’ trendy CityWay district, The Alexander has quickly attracted industry praise. The hotel earned a place on TripAdvisor’s list of Hot New Hotels and was a finalist in the 2013 Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design. Its 209 guestrooms include 52 suites designed for extended stays, and the property offers flexible meeting and event spaces, modern technology, a strong focus on sustainability, and three distinct dining options: Market Table, Cerulean, and the Jorge Pardo-designed Plat 99 Mixology Lounge.

Conveniently located within easy walking distance of the Indianapolis Convention Center, Monument Circle, Lucas Oil Stadium, and Gainbridge Fieldhouse (formerly Bankers Life Fieldhouse), The Alexander takes its name from 19th-century city planner Alexander Ralston, who trained under the influential Washington, D.C. designer Pierre L’Enfant. The hotel also features an art program curated in collaboration with the Indianapolis Museum of Art, showcasing works by more than 25 contemporary artists, including Mark Fox and Nick Walker.

Among the collection is a striking large-scale installation by Paul Villinski: a flock of birds in flight that spans an entire wall and was crafted from repurposed vinyl records, reflecting the hotel’s creative approach to design and commitment to sustainability.
