JetBlue Restarts Full-Service Flights to Puerto Rico

JetBlue has restored its flight service to Puerto Rico to pre-Hurricane Maria levels, reporting a rise in demand as the island continues its recovery.

“Returning to our pre-hurricane flight count reflects the resilience of Puerto Rico and the dedication of our crewmembers who kept operations running during a very challenging time,” said Dave Clark, vice president of sales and revenue management at JetBlue.

To support increased travel for the summer season, JetBlue hired 50 new crewmembers for its San Juan (SJU) operations. The airline now bases roughly 500 crewmembers in Puerto Rico and operates 48 daily flights to 13 destinations across the United States and the Caribbean.

Throughout the recovery, JetBlue launched initiatives addressing the island’s immediate needs and forged long-term partnerships to help revive tourism and invest in Puerto Rico’s future.

“We are honored to be the airline that reunites Puerto Rican families and brings visitors to the island’s beautiful beaches and attractions. We will continue collaborating with the Puerto Rico Tourism Company to restore and grow tourism on this special island,” Clark added.

Carla G. Campos, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, noted the significance of the recovery milestone: “The best way to celebrate JetBlue’s 16th anniversary on the island is by welcoming the passengers that mark the full stabilization of service from one of Puerto Rico’s main airlines. Matching pre-hurricane seat capacity six months earlier than anticipated shows demand has increased and confirms we are on track for a historic recovery.”

JetBlue’s restored schedule and increased staffing underscore the broader progress in Puerto Rico’s recovery, supporting travel, commerce, and the island’s long-term economic rebound.
