Love a little sauce with your meal? Don’t miss the 16th annual Big Apple Barbecue, happening June 9–10 in Manhattan’s Madison Square Park. Admission is free for all, and a limited number of FastPasses are available for purchase; FastPass holders gain access to shorter lines at each barbecue station and receive a $100 value redeemable during the event. The weekend also features live music, wine gardens, beer and cooking demonstrations.
The 2018 pitmaster lineup includes Jean Paul Bourgeois of Blue Smoke (New York City); Pat Martin of Martin’s Bar-B-Que (Nashville, Tenn.); Garry Roark and Leslie Roark Scott of Ubon’s Barbecue (Yazoo City, Miss.); Sam Jones of Skylight Inn/Sam Jones BBQ (Ayden, N.C.); John Stage of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que (New York City); and John Wheeler of Memphis Barbecue Co. (South Haven, Miss.). These acclaimed pitmasters bring a range of regional styles and signature techniques, promising a weekend of diverse, authentic barbecue flavors.
