JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts is preparing to open its first hotel in Italy and its first resort in Europe: JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa. Scheduled to welcome guests in March 2015, the resort occupies a unique lagoon location on its own island with views toward St. Mark’s Square and the historic city known as La Serenissima. The property will feature 266 guestrooms and suites, including select accommodations with private pools, crafted using locally made brick, glass and tile to reflect Venetian tradition.
“The opening of our first property in Italy marks a time of great growth and development for the JW Marriott brand,” said Mitzi Gaskins, vice president and global brand manager for JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts. The new JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa aims to combine the brand’s signature elegance and service with contemporary design and authentic Venetian touches to offer guests a genuine, culturally rich experience.
The resort sits on more than 16 acres of landscaped grounds, providing guests with extensive outdoor spaces, gardens and fruit-bearing arbors. Olive groves and cultivated plots help create a peaceful, agricultural setting that complements the lagoon views. Dining and culinary learning opportunities are plentiful, with four restaurants, five bars, a cooking school and a wine academy designed for both casual meals and special occasions.
For events, the resort includes a picturesque function space housed in a restored church, offering a memorable backdrop for weddings, receptions and meetings. Wellness amenities are comprehensive: a full-service spa with an indoor and outdoor aqua-tonic pool, a health club, eight treatment rooms, a traditional hammam and a luxury spa suite provide a range of restorative treatments and relaxation options.
Families and active guests will find dedicated facilities, including a kid’s club and a family pool, while leisure and water-sport enthusiasts can enjoy a rooftop pool and a variety of lagoon activities such as canoeing and sailing. The resort’s blend of serene gardens, hospitality-focused services and recreational offerings is designed to appeal to travelers seeking both relaxation and authentic Venetian experiences.
