Stay in a Retrofitted Boeing 727 Just Steps from Costa Rica’s Beaches

Hotel Costa Verde is best known for its beachfront setting and resident troops of monkeys, but the property offers much more. Along with suites, bungalows and studios that provide sweeping views of the Pacific or the bird-rich rainforests of nearby Manuel Antonio National Park, this sustainably run hotel features a full spa and wellness center and a unique attraction: a restored Boeing 727 converted into a luxurious vacation rental.

The 1965 Boeing 727 was carefully stripped to its frame and rebuilt atop a 50-foot pedestal, with a broad private deck extending over the right wing. The cabin interior has been finished with teak paneling and teak furnishings sourced from Java, Indonesia. The airplane rental includes two bedrooms, each with a private bath, a flat-screen TV, a fully equipped kitchen and a dining foyer. Large windows and elevated positioning provide treetop views of the ocean and the surrounding wildlife: colorful toucans, fiery-billed acaris, mantled howler and capuchin monkeys, brown-throated three-toed sloths and many other tropical species.

The combination of ocean panoramas, rainforest scenery and close encounters with native animals creates a memorable stay. Guests can choose from traditional hotel rooms or the one-of-a-kind airplane suite, all set within a property that emphasizes sustainable practices and natural beauty.
