AccorHotels Acquires Majority Stake in 21c Museum Hotels

Adding to its recent string of acquisitions — which include onefinestay and John Paul concierge services — Paris-based AccorHotels announced plans to acquire an 85 percent stake in another luxury hotel brand as part of its strategy to expand a portfolio of lifestyle-oriented properties.

21c Museum Hotels, a small luxury chain headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, currently operates eight properties across the Midwest and Southeastern United States, and has announced plans for future hotels in Miami, Chicago and Des Moines, Iowa. Each 21c property combines a boutique hotel with a contemporary art museum or gallery and a specialty restaurant, offering guests a curated cultural experience under one roof.

By joining AccorHotels, 21c Museum Hotels will gain access to the hospitality group’s global distribution channels, loyalty program and business development resources. The chain’s co-founders will retain a 15 percent stake in the business and will continue to run the company’s operations from Louisville.
