Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Unveils Redesigned Overwater Villas in Maldives

In the Maldives, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi resort has unveiled the first phase of a resort-wide redesign, marking a major milestone in the property’s evolution as part of Sun Siyam’s newly launched Luxury Collection.

The 5-star resort presents a redesigned portfolio of overwater accommodations that set a clear new design direction rooted in refined island luxury and Maldivian craftsmanship. The updated villas offer a contemporary take on rustic Maldivian luxury, combining clean lines with tactile materials and thoughtful detailing.

Each villa is oriented to frame ocean views, featuring a calm open-plan layout and a spacious bathroom with a bathtub overlooking the lagoon. Private decks include multiple lounging zones, suspended hammocks and intimate seating niches rendered in soft green tones to create a relaxed, lived-in luxury feel.

The Horizon Water Villas now include a 236-square-foot private pool and sunken seating, creating a serene sanctuary for sunrise rituals, lazy afternoons and cinematic sunsets. These enhancements are especially appealing for couples and honeymooners, ensuring every stay feels carefully tailored and intimate.

The overwater accommodation mix comprises 40 Water Villas with large private pools; 16 Horizon Water Villas with Pool; and 19 Sunset Horizon Water Villas with Pool, each designed to offer a seamless balance of comfort, privacy and connection to the surrounding seascape.

Located in peaceful Noonu Atoll, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi—part of the Sun Siyam Luxury Collection—sits on a secluded 52-acre island ringed by powder-soft white sand and crystalline waters.

Dining is a highlight at the resort, with 15 bars and restaurants offering diverse culinary experiences. Villas come with multilingual butler service to anticipate guests’ preferences and curate dining, activities and in-villa moments.

The resort welcomes families as well: up to two children stay and dine free when sharing a villa with two adults, making it a practical option for family getaways. For adults seeking quiet, there is an adults-only pool and bar offering a calm retreat. The Spa by Thalgo, set within lush natural surroundings, provides more than 165 treatments designed for deep relaxation and rejuvenation. Marine activities are plentiful—guests can explore underwater life through the SSI-certified dive center or join guided snorkeling excursions to vibrant reef sites.

To realize this transformation, Sun Siyam appointed international interior design consultants Lee McNichol and Jose Rivero, founders and creative directors of Studio Sixty7, to lead the redesign and ensure a cohesive expression of luxury across the island.

“This transformation goes beyond aesthetics; it’s a careful orchestration of space, service excellence and emotional detail,” said Abdulla Atham, manager of Sun Siyam Iru Fushi. “From villa layouts and in-villa experiences to minibar selections, outdoor offerings, views and the quiet gestures from your butler, every element is designed to immerse guests in the spirit of chic island living.”
